Vancouver: This season, Bryan Burnham anticipated more from the B.C. Lions.

The team’s goal of winning a Grey Cup and going on a post-season run was what the all-star receiver was aiming for.

The Lions had a strong 4-2 start, but they faltered in the latter stages and lost seven straight games. With a 5-9 record at the end of the pandemic-shortened 14-game season, B.C. missed the playoffs for the second straight year.

This is really upsetting because, in 2019, the team seemed to be struggling. It felt like a good team in 2021, according to Burnham. “And we were unable to solve it.”

Vancouver — This season, Bryan Burnham had higher expectations for the B.C. Lions.

The team’s post-season run and eventual Grey Cup competition were the all-star receiver’s goals.

Notwithstanding their strong 4-2 start, the Lions faltered in the latter stages and dropped seven straight games. B.C. finished with a 5-9 record, missing the playoffs for the second straight season due to the pandemic-shortened 14-game season.

“It felt like a bad team in 2019, which is why this is so disappointing. We felt like a good team in 2021,” Burnham remarked. “And we were unable to solve the problem.”

“The fire inside is already beginning to build.” “Hopefully it’s here, but no matter where I end up, this will serve as a great source of motivation going into the off-season to improve and ensure that I never experience this feeling again,” the pending free agent stated.

Burnham, who joined the Lions in February for a one-year deal, stated he hasn’t given much thought to where he will play in the upcoming season.

“I want to prevail in the end.” Thus, we’ll watch and see,” he stated. “I would be thrilled to triumph in British Columbia and to win a Grey Cup here. Both the fans and us as players deserve it. Thus, we’ll see.

Director of football operations and co-general manager of the Lions Neil McEvoy wants to preserve the depth of BC’s receiving group. With two of the top five receivers in the CFL, including Lucky Whitehead (fourth with 932 yards despite missing two games due to two broken fingers), the team led the league in passing yards (4.037).

McEvoy declared, “We want to bring back the core of this team.” “We won’t dismantle everything and start over. We thought we had some excellent players when training camp started, but regrettably, the victories just didn’t materialize.

It’s unclear if seasoned quarterback Michael Reilly will be the one slinging passes to the receivers.
