Celtic are ‘confident’ of signing QPR centre-back Jake Clarke-Salter this summer, according to a report by Football Insider.

QPR could lose the defender in the upcoming transfer window amid interest from the Scottish Premiership giants. He has been a key player for the London club since linking up with them back in 2022.

Clarke-Salter, 26, appears to be a man in-demand ahead of the 2024/25 season with The Sun claiming Crystal Palace, Burnley, Wolves and Ipswich Town are keen on landing him along with the Hoops. The Telegraph reporter John Percy has also claimed on X that fellow Championship outfit Stoke City are admirers too.

In this latest update regarding his situation by Football Insider, Celtic are growing increasingly more optimistic about getting their man in the near future and expect to be able to meet his price tag. Brendan Rodgers’ men can clinch the title on Wednesday if they draw against Kilmarnock.

QPR signed Clarke-Salter two years ago now and he has become one of their key players at the back.

He has made 47 appearances for them in all competitions and helped them secure their second tier status in this past campaign under the guidance of Marti Cifuentes.Stoke City FC - Duty calls for nine international Potters

Clarke-Salter rose up through the academy ranks at Chelsea and was a regular for the Premier League giants at various different youth levels. He went on to play three times for their first-team in his early career as a youngster, as well as having loan spells away from Stamford Bridge to get some experience under his belt with the likes of Bristol Rovers, Sunderland, Vitesse, Birmingham City and Coventry City.

He then cut ties with the Blues on a permanent basis and has since made QPR his home.

The ex-England youth international hasn’t looked back since and the Hoops will likely do their best to keep hold of him.
