Head coach Nick Clinard expressed his pride in the group’s competitive spirit and hunger in a press release. “Winning it was their aim from the very first tee shot. When putts weren’t falling or they weren’t playing at their best, they managed to maintain composure, and when it counted, they performed well. We are eager to compete for a national championship in California as we wrap up a fantastic season.
The Tigers shot 843 (-21) to win the regional by eight strokes, marking the first time in program history that regional titles have been won in back-to-back seasons.
“I’m thrilled to take that into nationals because I think our game is in a really good place right now. According to junior Brendan Valdes, “We’re going to be ready to do whatever it takes.”
Together with No. 12 Virginia, No. 14 Texas Tech, Ohio State, and LSU, Auburn advanced out of the regional.
30 teams from six regional locations will travel to Carlsbad, California on May 24-29 to compete at the Omni La Costa Champions Course for a national championship.
