For the time being, there is still a strong competition for the top spot among the college basketball transfer portal team rankings. As we approach the latter part of May, Indiana and a few other states are catching up to Arkansas, which is still in first place. Washington and Duke are two of the rising stars who made headline-grabbing commitments in the previous week. As of right now, both teams are ranked among the top 25 on the transfer portal.

As they undergo a significant roster overhaul, some teams are more compelled than others to hire through the transfer portal. Players began to leave the teams that were adding a lot of transfers after the majority of them underwent coaching changes.

Oregon only lost two transfers to the portal in the early going, and for the 2024–25 season, they have since added three new players to their roster to fill those spots as well as another. Duke added its third member since the cycle began last week, adding to the discussion about a top-25 transfer portal class. Sion James, a former shooting guard for Tulane, along with former Syracuse power forward Maliq Brown and former Purdue small forward Mason Gillis, were the three newcomers with the highest ratings. All three are top-100 individual transfers who provide the Blue Devils with three more experienced players to bolster their already strong class of incoming freshmen.
