After making a commitment to the Florida Gators in January, following his first ever visit to campus, Atlanta (GA) Woodward Academy three-star wide receiver Josiah Abdullah opened his recruitment back up. This move has been described to Swamp247 as a mutual parting of ways.

Abdullah had originally planned to take an official visit to Florida the weekend of June 14, but that visited had been expected to not take place before his chose to open the process back up. Abdullah has still been fielding some interest of his own though. Since his commitment to Florida, Indiana has extended an offer and he was also re-offered by the new staff at Alabama. Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Georgia are some others he recently told 247Sports that have still been in contact.

Florida’s commitment list now stands at four commitments in their 2025 recruiting class. Names that remain in the Gators recruiting class includes Tallahassee (Fla.) James Rickards four-star edge Jalen Wiggins, Tampa (Fla.) Plant four-star running back Waltez Clark, Havana (Fla.) Gadsden County three-star defensive lineman Jeramiah McCloud, and Fulshear (TX) Katy Jordan three-star running back Chad Gasper.

Abdullah is the second prospect in the 2025 cycle that parted ways with the Gators. Warner Robins (GA) Houston County four-star interior offensive lineman Peyton Joseph also backed off his pledge to Florida back in April. Both of Florida’s decommitments so far this cycle have been considered a mutual parting of ways.

Given this latest development, Florida’s 2025 class now ranks No. 56 on 247Sports team recruiting rankings, but with four commits, and a busy summer of official visits, there is still a lot of upward mobility ahead. Florida’s looking to take a deep class at the wide receiver position in the 2025 cycle, and have plenty of names still on the big board. The Gators are coming off hosting Pembroke Pines (Fla.) South Broward three-star Joshua Moore and Miami (Fla.) Central three-star Naeshaun Montgomerythis past weekend for official visits. Other targets of note on the Gators wide receiver board in the 2025 cycle includeCaleb Cunningham five-star , four-star Vernell Brown III, four-star Dallas Wilson, four-star Donovan Olugbode, four-star Cortez Mills, three-star CJ Ingram. Those other names mentioned are also slated to take an official visit to Florida this summer as well. Florida still has plenty of quality left on their radar at the position.

The 247Sports Composite, an industry generated average, currently ranks Abdullah as the Nation’s No. 469 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class and No. 75 ranked wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class.
