Louisville football used the spring transfer portal opening to bolster its defense.
All five of the incoming transfers play defense, which includes the most recent commit defensive lineman Brandon Lane. The Cardinals lost eight defensive linemen to the transfer portal after the 2023 season ended and nine total players during the spring.
During the spring game, Louisville played several younger players on the defensive line. Adding experience will be key for the squad.
The transfer portal opened April 16 and closed April 30.

Lane spent the last two years at Stephen F. Austin after starting his college career at South Dakota State. As a Lumberjack, the Missouri native totaled 55 tackles, nine for loss, 2 1/2 sacks and a fumble recovery in 18 games played. Lane had previously been committed to Michigan State.
