INCOLN — A junior college quarterback from Kansas showed up at Nebraska’s post-graduate camp on Monday and sees himself as a potential depth option for the Huskers.
Bryce Conover, who threw for 634 yards and five touchdowns at Dodge City (Kansas) Community College last season, attended NU’s camp, talked to Nebraska general manager Sean Padden and looks forward to hearing more from the program, whether it’s this summer or later in the fall.
Dodge City just hired a new coach, who wants Conover to come back, and NU may not be able to extend either a scholarship or NIL deal to the 6-foot-2, 203-pound Conover.
“It’d be great to go to the next level now but I wouldn’t be opposed to playing last season at Dodge and then going somewhere in the spring,” Conover said. “I think it’d be good, to go play spring ball somewhere vs. joining a team right before the season.”
Like many JUCOs, Dodge City tends to use multiple quarterbacks, and Conover, entering his third year of college, split time last season with Murray State transfer Treyvon Jefferson. Before Dodge City, Conover played at Division II power Western Colorado, a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference alongside Chadron State.
