As the Crows claim, Port Adelaide’s injury crisis gets worse. Showdown Number 55
With three more players sidelined during their appalling 30-point loss to rivals Adelaide during Showdown 55 on Thursday night, Port Adelaide’s injury crisis has taken a concerning turn.

After hurting his hamstring against St Kilda a week earlier, captain Connor Rozee was forced to the sidelines at halftime due to discomfort.

In addition, during the last term, young forward Mitch Georgiades was also observed wearing ice on his knee.
Georgiades’ ACL rupture was only recently repaired.

Next, press the forward key. In the last term, Todd Marshall also arrived at the bench with a proppy and hurt appearance.

In the third term, Rozee was benched for a considerable amount of time. He used the warm-up bike and briefly returned to the ground before the official decision to bench him was made.

The injury was listed by the club as hamstring tightness.

After it was revealed earlier in the week that Sam Powell-Pepper had ruptured his ACL against St Kilda in round seven, the Power now face even more setbacks and will be without him for the remainder of 2024.

In addition to their mounting injury list, Port Adelaide’s poor goal-scoring performance eliminated them from the running.

After going goalless in the second quarter, it took the Power 55 minutes to score their fourth goal of the game in the last minute of the third quarter.

In a startling performance, they managed to pile on 18 behinds, leaving coach Ken Hinkley unsure of what to do next.

Travis Boak finished the game with three behinds, bringing his season total to 0.7.

Meanwhile, rivals Adelaide demonstrated that regardless of how well each team is playing, the Showdown always ends in a shocking outcome.

After the victory, the Power are in eighth place and the Crows are in 12th.

Crows veteran Tex Walker stated on 7 post that “it’s always a great contest, no matter where we are on the ladder.”

When talking about his teammate Rory Sloane, who retired earlier this week due to medical advice regarding his most recent retinal surgery, Walker broke down in tears.

“His lovely family and I are in love. It’s difficult not to be able to play with him again,” Walker remarked on 7, fighting back tears.
“We are extremely fortunate to witness a stunning man play the game with the appropriate attitude, as demonstrated by what he has accomplished in those 255 games.”

At Adelaide Oval, 52,106 fans attended Showdown 55, which saw the Crows defeat their opponents with 28 victories to one.

There are still 27 Showdown victories for The Power.
