Celtics ease the Green Brigade ban; supporters accept a new behavior code

Following discussions between the Scottish champions and their ultras fan base, manager Brendan Rodgers welcomed the group’s return.

End of October saw Celtic enforce the suspension due to “unacceptable behaviours” that raised safety concerns.

They claimed that displays of Palestinian flags had nothing to do with the restriction.

Rather, the leaders of the Scottish Premiership pointed to the use of fireworks during a September match against Feyenoord, the illegal entry into Celtic Park prior to Lazio’s Champions League match, and the hurried turnstiles and forced open fire escapes at Fir Park later the same month.

“The club has revised its Rail Seating Safety Code of Conduct after consulting with the group, and the group has approved it, permitting a return.

“Celtic’s history is littered with late goals and a big part of that is down to the fans and the whole stadium getting behind the team,” Rodgers continued, referring to his team’s Saturday Premiership matchup against Livingston. It’s what distinguishes Celtic.

“A team is truly powerful when the players, supporters, and management are all on the same page.

 

“It’s the responsibility of all of us, but it hasn’t been the mood for some weeks. However, we are aware that when the energy at Celtic is high, teams find it extremely challenging to play there, and players benefit from an added advantage.
