Sources: Jack Colback undergoing QPR medical after quitting Nottingham Forest

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Jack Colback is having a medical at QPR ahead of free transfer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 33-year-old’s contract with Forest expired earlier this month as he prepares to join Championship side QPR.

Colback joined Nottingham Forest from Newcastle United on a permanent deal in 2020 after various loan spells with the club.

The midfielder made 134 appearances for Forest during his carious spells at the club, netting eight goals and offering up three assists in those outings.

Colback was an important part of the club’s promotion-winning campaign in the 2021-22 season playing across the pitch as a midfielder, left-back and wing-back during their journey back to the top flight.

As a result, he has reportedly been attracting interest from Birmingham City, West Brom and Ipswich Town ahead of the new season.

The former England international also featured heavily for Newcastle during his spell at the club, making 102 appearances on Tyneside with five goals and ten assists to his name.

QPR have seen the exit of experience Norwegian midfielder Stefan Johansen after they agreed to terminate his contract earlier this summer, leaving them thin in the midfield going into next season.

Gary Ainsworth’s side were due to kick of their new Championship campaign at home this weekend but due to renovations to the pitch at Loftus Road, the match had been moved to Watford’s home ground Vicarage Road.

In other news, Stockport County have agreed a deal to sign a former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper.

Nottingham Forest closer and closer to sign Argentine striker – Reds ‘initiated contacts’ for signing

Nottingham Forest interested in Argentine striker – Reds ‘initiated contacts’ for signing

Nottingham Forest are interested in Argentine striker Alejo Veliz, according to claims today.

The information is revealed by the Italian media, where Gianluca Di Marzio shares a story about the race for the 19-year-old.

The piece is mostly focused on AC Milan’s interest. It’s said the Rossoneri recently held a meeting with the player’s agent and an offer will possibly be made in the coming days.

It’s then pointed out that the Serie A giants aren’t the only ones fighting for Veliz. Torino already presented a bid which was considered too low, and Nottingham Forest are also competing.

Regarding the Tricky Trees, it’s said the club ‘initiated contacts’ to bring the striker to the Premier League.

Rosario Central’s initial demand is said to be €15m, which is the amount of his release clause. Still, according to Di Marzio, they can end up selling him for a ‘slightly lower’ figure.

It’s still unclear how much Milan and Nottingham Forest would put on the table to sign Veliz, so that’s a tough race to predict for now.

Featuring for Rosario Central this season, the youngster had 11 goals and one assist in 23 appearances so far. He’s also part of Argentina’s U-20 squad, taking part in the U-20 World Cup this year.

Report: Forest has in talks to sign £32m a top player from

Nottingham Forest will hold talks with Ibrahim Sangare star after clash with PSV today

Nottingham Forest will aim to thrash out a deal to sign Ibrahim Sangare following today’s friendly with PSV. The Reds are desperate to land the defensive midfielder before the season gets underway in two weeks.

Sangare has been a wanted man for the past few transfer windows, with Forest now keen. He’s been heavily linked with Liverpool, whilst Arsenal and Manchester United have also been cited as potential suitors.

Now, according to ESPN, the Reds will thrash out a deal for Sangare after today’s game. It was claimed last week that the player needs convincing that Forest is the right move for him this summer.

Forest are willing to go big with a fee for Sangare. His release clause is set at around £32 million and it’s claimed that the Reds wouldn’t have a problem paying that for a player they desperately want.

Sangare has been a fantastic player for PSV and he could play against Forest this afternoon. The Ivory Coast star has made 133 appearances for the club in total but a departure could now happen.

Forest are craving a central midfielder before the season starts. Danilo, Orel Mangala and Ryan Yates were the midfield three last term but they’re all pretty similar in the way they play.

Forest will aim to thrash out a deal for Sangare today

This could be the reason that Forest are playing PSV over in Holland today. Perhaps they aimed to capture Sangare today all along and the landscape could look a lot clearer over this transfer after today.

Sangare is clearly Forest’s number one target. However, it’s no surprise to hear that he needs convincing given that the Reds only stayed up in the penultimate game of the campaign during 2022/23.

Sangare would be a quality signing for Forest. He’s a tough-tackling performer, to say the least, and ultimately he’d give the Redsa player that plays in a position they desperately need reinforcements in.

Hopefully, Steve Cooper can work his magic after today’s game. If Forest can get Sangare over the line, it would represent a huge coup for the club.
