Philadelphia Eagles fan sneaks into locker room after NFL win over Rams
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, a fan of the winning team on Sunday night somehow joined the group of reporters who went into the locker room to speak to the players after the game. The fan approached receiver A.J. Brown who was startled by the presence of a man he had not seen before and brought it to the team’s attention.
“I feared for my life,” Brown joked. While the fan overstepped the mark by entering the player’s locker room unauthorised, there is plenty of excitement within the ranks of the former Super Bowl winners. The Eagles defeated the Rams 23-14 to record their fifth consecutive NFL win of the season and remain undefeated.
Victory at SoFi Stadium on Sunday meant they became the first team in 32 years to win their first five games of the season after losing in the Super Bowl. The San Francisco 49ers are also undefeated this year as they topped the Dallas Cowboys 42-10. “Overall, I think [Jalen Hurts] had a really good performance,” said Brown, who registered six catches for 127 yards.
“Picking up third downs with his feet, strong runner as he’s always been, but just having that will just to stay up on his feet, just staying poised the entire game.” Jalen Hurts achieved season-best figures in both rushing attempts (15) and rushing yards (72) in a performance resembling his near-MVP 2022 campaign.
The quarterback completed 25-of-38 passes while throwing over 300 yards and a touchdown with one interception. Hurts was exceptional, particularly on third down and he rushed a career-high eight times for 45 yards while tying a personal best with six first-down conversions.
Eagles left tackle Jordan Mailata sang the praises of Hurts and explained how he instills confidence in his teammates. “The relief is like, first down, we’re not getting off the field, hell yeah, continue the drive, let’s go get some points,” he said.
“That’s how I feel when he does that. I’m like, ‘I love you. Thank you for doing that.’ He bailed us out, man. He just used football IQ. He knows the routes, he knows how far they’re going; and if he doesn’t like what he’s seeing, he’s just going to take off and use his legs. That’s him.”
Philly cornerback Darius Slay added: “I watch him all the time. It’s always magic. Every time I get the corrections [on the sideline], I stand there and go watch Hurts work.” Though Hurts took many of the plaudits, it was an impressive all-around team performance from the Eagles.
They limited the Rams to just 14 points, their lowest total this season, while the offense surpassed 400 yards for the fourth game in a row. The Eagles will be next in action at MetLife Stadium against the New York Jets on Sunday, October 15.
