Injury Update: Midfield pair ruled out for the season.

Collingwood’s Head of High-Performance Jarrod Wade has provided an injury and health update ahead of the Magpies’ Round 22 clash against Sydney at the SCG on Friday.

Jordan De Goey sustained a high-grade hamstring strain involving his tendon during the third quarter of Collingwood’s Round 21 match against Carlton. De Goey will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2024 season with an expected recovery period of 10-12 weeks.

The midfielder will undergo surgical reviews to determine the next steps and will look to return to footy for 2025 pre-season in the back end of the year.

Tom Mitchell 
Tom Mitchell will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2024 season as he continues to work through his rehab program to address the plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

The 31-year-old continues to complete an inside modified training program and will focus on recovering to prepare for next year’s pre-season.

The midfielder will undergo a surgical review next week to determine next steps in his recovery.

Nathan Kreuger has been cleared from the AFL’s concussion protocols. The forward will return to full training this week and be available for selection for Friday night’s game against Sydney.
Aiden Beg is successfully completing two running sessions per week through his rehab program. The 21-year-old will look to increase his running load this week as he looks ahead to next season.
Brody Mihocek 
Brody Mihocek is progressing well with his shoulder recovery and is in the final stages of remaining in a sling. The forward has started light mobility rehab work, having completed bike and lower body weight sessions.

Iliro Smit 
Iliro Smit continues to work through the AFL’s concussion protocols after sustaining a head knock in Collingwood’s Round 18 VFL match. It’s expected the ruck will be available next week.

Oscar Steene continues in his rehab program after sustaining a toe injury. The ruck will continue to work to regain strength in his toe and foot area to return to football in 2025.
