Arizona Cardinals defense threatens to halt rebuild in its tracks
It takes a little bit more than just weekly platitudes to keep fans engaged.
Every week is a rollercoaster with this Arizona Cardinals franchise though, as they get a win over the San Francisco 49ers on the road, then come back and get dog walked by the Green Bay Packers.
Now, we are hearing they know what they to do to work on it, but after a 2-4 start, which is where most fans expected them to be if we are being honest, why is there a lack of consistency?
Fans understand that this is a rebuild, so they have been patient, but the last three weeks has been too much in terms of the wild swinging from prepared and competitive, to dregs of the NFL.
The growth was supposed to be a competitive team that was a little too undermanned from a talent side of things, and while that has happened at times, it seems more like this is a team without any direction or hope.
The biggest issue this week was the fact that this team lacks any sort of urgency on defense.
Jordan Love and the Packers offense are clearly very good, but outside of the egregious series by Sean Murphy-Bunting, Love’s other touchdowns came with little pressure and the Cardinals made life too easy for the Packers offense.
They are a bottom five team in pass defense, and with injuries mounting, the run defense has become abysmal.
Having that many issues on just one side of the ball, and not even getting into the offensive woes, makes you wonder if this rebuild has any legs at all.
