Harry Kane has officially left Tottenham Hotspur and joined Bayern Munich in a high-profile transfer. The deal, worth over €100 million (£86 million), marks the end of Kane’s nearly 20-year association with Spurs, where he became the club’s all-time top scorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances. He also holds the record as England’s top goalscorer with 58 international goals.

Kane’s departure was a long-anticipated move as he sought a fresh challenge and the opportunity to compete for top trophies. Bayern Munich had been pursuing Kane since June 2023, facing multiple rejected bids before finally reaching an agreement with Spurs. He signed a four-year contract with the German giants and will earn around €25 million per year.

Kane made his debut for Bayern just hours after signing, appearing as a substitute in their 3-0 German Super Cup defeat to RB Leipzig. He acknowledged the emotional difficulty of leaving Spurs but emphasized that he was excited to compete at the highest level and play in the Champions League.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy expressed gratitude for Kane’s contributions, calling him a “model professional” and a “much-loved and valued member of the Spurs family”. Meanwhile, new Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou has had to quickly adjust to life without his star striker, stating that the club now has an opportunity to rebuild and compete again.

Kane left the door open for a potential return to Spurs, stating in a farewell video that it was “not a goodbye” but a “thank you,” keeping alive speculation that he may one day return to the Premier

‏League.
