Shock Nathan Patterson development just days after David Moyes issued him Everton warning…

Everton have seen their squad stretched this season with injuries plaguing the Toffees throughout the campaign.

David Moyes has done a sterling job, considering the struggles he has endured since taking on the Merseyside club in January.

It has been much improved for Everton over the last two months, with the 61-year-old transforming their form in the Premier League.

That is not to say Moyes is completely satisfied with everything he has seen upon his return.

Moyes has demanded more from some Everton players, with the likes of Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom both encouraged to improve.

They are not alone, though.

But there has now been a shocking development involving Nathan Patterson who is another player struggling on Merseyside.

Everton outcast Nathan Patterson receives Scotland call-up
Just a few days ago, Moyes warned Patterson of his Everton form, with the Scot wanting more from a number of his players.

Patterson has struggled massively since making the move to Merseyside three years ago, this season has been no different…

However, it has now been suggested by the Daily Record that Patterson is set to receive a call-up to the Scotland international side.

Despite having not played since the very start of February, Patterson finds himself receiving an unexpected phone call from Steve Clarke.

Patterson returned to Everton training two weeks ago following his latest injury setback.

However, the right-back has not made it back into Moyes’ plans, with the 23-year-old having to settle for a spot on the bench against Brentford and Wolves.

Nathan Patterson’s Everton career left in limbo ahead of the summer
Towards the backend of Sean Dyche’s time on Merseyside, Patterson was keen to leave Everton in the January transfer window.

A change of manager has brought a change of fortune for a number of players.

Unfortunately, that has not been the case for Patterson, with his spot in the starting XI becoming even more distant.

Jake O’Brien has flourished at right-back under Moyes, which has solidified Patterson’s spot on the bench for the remainder of the campaign.

An interesting few months lie ahead of Patterson, who – at the age of 23 – will surely be looking for some more regular game time.

Everton have made a number of transfer blunders over the last 10 years or so.

Everton’s recruitment has been really hit and miss in recent times, with many of their most expensive recruits all flopping.

Moise Kean is indeed a notable example, however, he’s now flourishing away from Goodison Park at Fiorentina.

Davy Klassen, who cost around £23m, is another big-money signing that’s failed to make an impact on Merseyside.

However, some of Everton’s worst mistakes have actually been in deciding against a number of signings, like Callum Hudson-Odoi.
