ASTON VILLA KEEN ON SNATCHING ‘ASTONISHING’ ARSENAL TARGET
Aston Villa are joining the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby amid interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Moussa Diaby is attracting even more Premier League interest with Aston Villa now joining the race.
That is according to a report from the Daily Mail, who claim that Villa have become the latest club to show a firm interest in Diaby.
Unai Emery’s men have allegedly made checks on Diaby’s situation in Germany as they eye an exciting move.
Leverkusen are seeking more than £50million for Diaby, which could shatter Villa’s transfer records of £38million on Emiliano Buendia.
This won’t be an easy deal to pull off but would again show that Villa mean business under Emery.
Arsenal and Newcastle United want Moussa Diaby
Villa are far from the only Premier League club being linked with a move for Diaby.
French newspaper L’Equipe reported in June that Arsenal were leading the race to sign Diaby this summer, as relayed by Get French Football News.
Arsenal have since added another attacker and ironically a former Leverkusen star in Kai Havertz.
The German has played out wide in the past and offers Arsenal a versatile attacking threat, which may just impact a move for Diaby.
Sport Bild reported just last week that Diaby is aiming for a move to the Premier League this summer and Newcastle are very interested.
The Magpies may still have one big signing in them after landing Sandro Tonali and Diaby has been regularly linked with them.
This means Emery may now face a battle with his former club and the team he almost joined in 2021 as Diaby attracts major interest.
Who is Aston Villa target Diaby?
Diaby hails from Paris and unsurprisingly came up through the Paris Saint-Germain ranks.
After featuring in the PSG B team, Diaby had a strange loan with Italian side Crotone, which only saw him play twice.
Diaby then picked up 34 first-team games for PSG before being sold to Leverkusen in 2019.
The rapid wide man has been a constant menace in the Bundesliga ever since, racking up 49 goals and 48 assists for Leverkusen.
Branded ‘astonishing’ over in Germany, Diaby’s speed is a huge threat and he has shown the end product to match.
Diaby would be an unbelievable signing for Villa but fending off Arsenal and Newcastle will be a challenge in itself.
