West Ham United transfer news as Gianluca Scamacca signing contract to quit

West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca is signing his contract “right now” ahead of a move to Italian side Atalanta, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano shared via his Twitter account on 7 August that West Ham will receive £21.5million with £4.3million in add-ons for the sale of the striker who arrived at the club for around £30million just last season.

It was also shared that West Ham will receive 10% of any future transfer due to a sell-on clause included in the deal, which is set to be officially completed in the coming hours after the striker arrived in Italy days ago.

Further sales should mean more signings

It’s becoming a need’s-must situation for West Ham in the transfer market as players continue to leave what is an already small squad, which could force the Hammers into acting swiftly to secure new deals, particularly in the striker department.

Scamacca’s imminent exit means the Hammers will have Michail Antonio as their only option up front, with youngster Divin Mubama also likely to be handed a chance to shine this season despite his tender age.

West Ham have targeted strikers throughout the transfer window, including Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun, Chelsea’s Armando Broja, and highly-coveted French striker Elye Wahi as they look to improve their attacking options in the wake of Scamacca’s departure.

This deal will mean the East London club have received a combined £130million from exiting transfers in the deals for Scamacca and Declan Rice, and fans will be hoping that incoming deals can be done with this money as soon as possible, with the Premier League set to kick off on 12 August.

In other West Ham news, the club could move for a new striker following Scamacca’s exit.

JUST IN: West Ham agreed to sign striker from London rivals who missed 30 games injured last term

West Ham United are eyeing a move to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea as a replacement for Gianluca Scamacca.

The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg claims that West Ham boss David Moyes is looking to replace Gianluca Scamacca with Chelsea forward Armando Broja in the summer transfer window.

The Hammers have been linked with a move to sign the 21-year-old striker since last summer, but he suffered an ACL injury back in December that seemingly put paid to a January exit from Stamford Bridge.

However, he seems to have recovered now and apparently could leave Chelsea this summer.

West Ham are closely monitoring the Albania international…

New Armando Broja claim made by Jacob Steinberg as West Ham move in for the Chelsea ace

Moyes is absolutely desperate to sign a new forward with Scamacca joining Atalanta – preferably one that suits his counter-attacking system.

Broja missed 30 games through injury for the Blues last season (Transfermarkt). He hasn’t had a proper pre-season this summer either, but the Chelsea attacker is seemingly the man for the job as far as the Scot is concerned.

I actually really rate the 21-year-old. Broja seems to be exactly what we need up front – he’s willing to run the channels, is very strong when playing with his back to goal and is incredibly hard to dispossess.

However, there have been footballers in the past who have never come back from rupturing their ACL’s.

Chelsea want around £30 million for Armando Broja (The Star), and I think spending that kind ofd money on him would be too much of a risk for West Ham, considering what happened back in December.

Perhaps if the west London club were willing to lower their demands for the young forward to around £20 million, he’d be worth the risk for the Hammers.

Jacob Steinberg has now also provided an update on West Ham’s transfer activities stating that the London club are hoping to have a deal sorted in the next few days. This reinforces the notion that the Hammers are edging closer to the Mexican international and are eager to finalise the agreement.

The news of West Ham’s pursuit of Alvarez comes at a critical juncture for the club. With the departure of former-captain Declan Rice to Arsenal, the Hammers have been actively seeking reinforcements to strengthen their squad.

The news of West Ham’s pursuit of Alvarez comes at a critical juncture for the club. With the departure of former-captain Declan Rice to Arsenal, the Hammers have been actively seeking reinforcements to strengthen their squad.

During the previous summer transfer window, Alvarez attracted interest from Premier League giants Chelsea. The Blues made a substantial £43 million offer to Ajax for the services of the talented midfielder. However, a deal failed to materialise, and the versatile playmaker continued his impressive performances for the Dutch side.

He joined Ajax in 2019 from Club America and has been a consistent presence in their lineup. The ever-present star featured in 44 matches across all competitions last season, predominantly operating as a defensive midfielder. However, he has also displayed his adaptability by seamlessly transitioning to a centre-back role when required.

While negotiations for Alvarez progress, West Ham’s pursuit of Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse has faced hurdles. Steinberg reports that the Hammers “remain unwilling to go over £30m” for the Englishman. This perhaps suggests that the Hammers are prioritising their pursuit of Alvarez and have set a financial limit for Ward-Prowse’s potential transfer.
