Sean Dyche wants Everton to sign Leicester City forward Patson Daka amid new injury blow

Everton boss Sean Dyche is keen on signing Leicester City winger Patson Daka, according to Alan Nixon.

Taking to his Patreon on Monday (7 August), the newspaper journalist claimed that Dyche wants to add pace to his side with a deal possibly coming at a “reasonable cost”.

Nixon also claims the Toffees are aiming for two more forward signings this summer, but negotiations to add Sheffield United’s Daniel Jebbison have stalled following the youngster’s injury over the weekend, leaving a move for Daka open.

Interesting

While Everton have already improved their attack this window, a cut-price deal for Daka could be very interesting for Toffees fans.

With the addition of Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal and Fabrizio Romano claiming (7 August) a deal for Sporting youngster Youssef Chermiti is close, perhaps Dyche should be focusing on other areas to improve.

However, if the Toffees can get the Zambian for a nice affordable fee he could have a real impact. While his Leicester career has had its ups and downs, he has proved both in the Premier League in Europe that he can be an effective goal scorer.

Daka ended last season with four goals and four assists in the league in a struggling Leicester side. While not awful stats, Dyche would hope to unleash the Austrian Bundesliga-era Daka, who scored 51 goals across two seasons for RB Salzburg before he joined Leicester.

He also ranks well for his defensive duties which will be a key motivator for Dyche to sign him as Everton often rely on counter-attacking football. Daka can boast 0.53 interceptions per 90 (97th percentile) and 1.06 blocks per 90 (91st percentile) [FBRef], showing that he is more than just an attacker.

If Dyche is keen, the Everton board should back him. Daka has done enough for Leicester to warrant a move back to the Premier League if a good fee can be agreed.

In other Everton news, Dyche has explained a player absence who was missing for their pre-season clash against Sporting.
