West Ham United finally set for James Ward-Prowse transfer as soon as possible

West Ham are working to finalise a deal to bring Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse to East London as soon as possible, according to David Ornstein.

The Athletic journalist has reported on 8 August that Southampton are keen on having their club captain start the game against Norwich City on Saturday, but it will likely be his last game for the club.

Ward-Prowse is one of several midfielders the Hammers have targeted as they look to improve their squad following the departure of Declan Rice after offers were rejected for Scott McTominay and Joao Palhinha.

Moyes finally gets his man

Following a report in The Guardian which claimed there was an ongoing internal battle at West Ham between David Moyes and technical director Tim Steidten, it now appears a compromise has been reached as both are set to sign one of their key targets.

Ward-Prowse has been one of Moyes’ top transfer targets this summer, with the Scot reportedly pushing this deal through, due to his experience in the Premier League having spent ten years in the top flight with Southampton, as well as his leadership and famed set-piece ability.

The Saints’ captain does, on paper, look like a typical Moyes player, but has plenty of ability to improve this West Ham side and fit in with the manager’s plans for the team.

Steidten, meanwhile, is set to get one of his key targets with Ajax’s Mexican midfielder Edson Alvarez also set to sign for the Hammers in the next couple of days.

Finally, we are seeing some positive movement.

In other West Ham news, one pundit has shared his view that this West Ham target is too good for them.

West Ham launch ‘first official bid’ for signing – Player ‘ready to join’ Hammers

Following reports from the Dutch media this weekend claiming West Ham United turned into ‘serious’ candidates to sign Edson Alvarez from Ajax, we now see this story developing

Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg claims on Twitter that the Hammers placed a first official bid for the transfer.

It’s said West Ham are offering around £30m for Alvarez, and as Ajax have the proposal in their hands, both clubs ‘want to find an agreement soon’.

It sounds a little like this bid wasn’t accepted by the Amsterdam side, with Plettenberg claiming a final £35m fee is expected by ‘all involved’.

Still, it’s highlighted how contacts are going well, with the journalist saying the clubs are in ‘very good and respectful talks’.

Alvarez himself is said to be ‘ready to join West Ham’, as the Premier League side prepared a contract until 2028.

When speaking of the negotiations, the Dutch media had already claimed that the player has a deal with the Hammers, so convincing him has not been a problem for David Moyes’ side.

Now it seems they just need to raise their bid a little to close the deal with Ajax.

West Ham want to sign French centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, could cost £43 million

West Ham United reportedly want to sign Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo this summer.

Nice allegedly could sell the Frenchman for as little as €30 million (£26 million), but could also demand as much as €40-50 million (£35.5-43 million).

The East London outfit have been linked with a move to sign Todibo already this summer. That’s no surprise with Hammers boss David Moyes on the look-out for a top-class centre-back.

However, the Scot won’t have it all his own way if he does indeed try to sign the Nice star…

West Ham want to sign French centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, could cost £43 million

Area Napoli claim that the Hammers want to sign the former Barcelona man.

However, we could face competition from Newcastle, Villa, Napoli and PSG for his signature. It clearly won’t be easy for West Ham to bring Todibo to East London will it.

If there is any chance whatsoever of making this happen though, Moyes should be all over it.

The Frenchman is very strong in the air, really quick along the ground and tenacious in the tackle.

In 34 Ligue 1 outings for Nice last season, Tobido averaged 2.2 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 3.1 clearances per game (Who Scored).

Jean-Clair Todibo would be a fantastic long-term replacement for Angelo Ogbonna at West Ham.

However, £43 million does seem to be a little steep. If we could pick him up for closer to £25-30 million, then it’s definitely a deal that the Hammers should be pursuing.
