ROMANO CLAIMS NEWCASTLE ARE HIJACKING MOVE FOR ‘REALLY TALENTED’ PLAYER

Crystal Palace’s move to sign Chelsea talent Lewis Hall is on ‘stand-by’ because Newcastle United are hijacking the deal.

Newcastle United are making their move for Lewis Hall with Crystal Palace now in danger of missing out.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claimed overnight that Newcastle are now keen to bring Hall to St James’ Park.

It’s stated that Hall’s expected move to Crystal Palace is ‘in stand-by’ with Newcastle now looking to hijack the deal.

There may be a bigger story evolving here too with the Daily Mail suggesting that Chelsea have ‘aggravated’ Palace with their move for Michael Olise.

The Frenchman is close to joining Chelsea but it’s stated that Palace believe there has been some tapping up involved.

Palace are considering ‘formally reporting’ Chelsea for their actions and Hall’s loan move to Selhurst Park could collapse.

Hall was expected to sign for Palace last week but the deal has been delayed, allowing Newcastle to move in.

Romano does though add that the deal is ‘not easy’ because of Financial Fair Play regulations impacting Newcastle.

Chelsea are happy for Hall to go out on loan but Newcastle may instead look to secure an option to buy despite Hall agreeing a six-year deal in preparation of joining Palace on loan.

Lewis Hall is a Newcastle United fan

A loan to Palace will surely have appealed to Hall as he seeks first-team action but Newcastle are a different proposition.

Even if you take out that Newcastle are upwardly mobile under Eddie Howe and have Champions League football, Hall has an emotional pull to the Magpies.

Hall may have been born in Slough but brother Connor – a non-league striker with Solihull Moors – has opened up on their love for Newcastle.

Connor has previously told The Chronicle that both he and Lewis were Newcastle fans growing up.

The 18-year-old made his Premier League debut against Newcastle at St James’ Park, in what would have been a huge moment for him.

Fast forward a few months and Newcastle are now looking to sign Hall, who has been praised as ‘really talented’ by Frank Lampard.
