Bristol City have signed striker Amalie Thestrup from PSV Eindhoven and wing-back Jamie-Lee Napier from London City Lionesses on two year deals.

Thestrup is a 28-year-old Danish international who has played for the likes of Brøndby, Liverpool and Roma, as well as a loan spell at West Ham last season.

She told bcfc.co.uk: “When the interest was there I was excited about it from the beginning and then I had a good conversation with Lauren [Smith] and also spoke to Rachel Furness and Amy Rodgers, who I know from my time at Liverpool, and throughout all those conversations it just felt right.

“Getting promoted to back to the WSL is a testament to where the club is going and the ambitions that everyone here has so I think the goal is to establish the team in the top flight and show that’s where we belong.

“I’ve seen what it takes to compete in the WSL and you have to perform at your best every game because every team and every player is so talented. Hopefully I can utilise my experience going into this season.”

Napier is a 23-year-old former Hibernian, Chelsea and Birmingham City player, who spent the last two seasons with London City Lionesses and made her full international debut for Scotland earlier this year.

She told the club’s website: “It feels great to be here. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the club and had some good conversations with Lauren [Smith] and some of the girls so I’m excited to get started.

“It’s always been a good test coming up against Bristol City. I like the way the team plays and the kind of characters in the squad so it was something I really wanted to be a part of and it was a no-brainer when the option to sign came up.

“I’m really close with Abi Harrison from our time at Hibs so we’ve got a great bond on and off the pitch, the same with Amy Rodgers from our last two season together at London City. It’s good to have some familiar faces.”
