Tottenham Hotspur welcomes Czech goalkeeper Votíková
Tottenham Hotspur has signed the accomplished Czech goalkeeper, Barbora Votíková. The 26-year-old has committed to a deal extending to 2025.
Votíková, a native of Plzeň, Czech Republic, began her illustrious career at Viktoria Plzeň, making her senior debut in 2013.
Her talent soon caught the eye of Slavia Prague scouts, and she transitioned to the club, contributing to their four Women’s First League titles, a Czech Women’s Cup, and three appearances in the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals.
In 2021, the sought-after shot-stopper took her skills to Paris Saint-Germain, securing nine clean sheets in 12 DR Arkema games and a nomination for the league’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Additionally, her international record is impressive, boasting 38 caps for the Czech Republic.
Speaking to SPURSPLAY, an exhilarated Votíková shared, “This league is the centre of women’s football now, and I want to be a part of it.”
But Votíková isn’t just about football. Off the field, she’s a YouTube sensation with almost 500,000 subscribers.
The talented player opened up about her passion for acting and her venture into writing, revealing, “When I was younger, I was aiming to become an actress… so I started to create my own comedy skits and easy movies. I’ve been doing it ever since then.”

Tottenham holding ‘transfer summit today’ in bid to block Saudi deal
Tottenham, who lost Harry Kane to Bayern Munich at the weekend, are desperate for reinforcements before the transfer window slams shut at the start of next month.
Tottenham are reportedly holding a transfer summit today (Wednesday) in a bid to block Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet moving to Saudi Arabia. Lenglet spent last season on loan at Spurs, and the Premier League giants are now keen to snap up the France international on a permanent basis.
Lenglet started 24 Premier League matches last season and was also a regular for Spurs in the Champions League as they reached the last 16 before crashing out at the hands of AC Milan. The centre-back returned to the Nou Camp at the end of the last campaign and still has three more years remaining on his contract.
But the 28-year-old appears to have no future at Barcelona as the club haven’t even registered him for the new season. According to Spanish publication Sport, Tottenham haven’t ruled out sealing a deal for Lenglet but have so far been frustrated in their attempts to sign him as they are not willing to meet Barca’s demands.
Lenglet is owed money by his current employers after he deferred some of his wages during the Covid-19 pandemic. Barcelona want the player’s next club to cover his lost wages on top of a transfer fee, with Saudi side Al-Nassr willing to offer the defender and his Spanish club a good deal.
Tottenham have since appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new manager, with the Australian overseeing a more attacking style of football. And the team entertained during their 2-2 draw with Brentford at the weekend as they attacked at will.
But Tottenham will have to transition to their next chapter without their former talisman Harry Kane. The England captain left the club at the weekend after agreeing to sign for Bayern Munich.
Spurs look like a completely different team this season following a dismal campaign under Antonio Conte and his interim replacements Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason last time around. The Lilywhites came under fire for their style of football last season and ultimately finished 8th in the Premier League.
