Two La Liga sides now battling to sign ‘terrific’ £4.5m Newcastle player this summer

Outgoing transfers have been a bit of a sticky wicket for Newcastle United this summer which is having a knock-on effect for incoming transfers too.

Eddie Howe has recruited brilliantly this summer and with Lewis Hall from Chelsea due to be announced any day now, the Magpies have had a solid 8/10 transfer window.

There’s still a feeling that Newcastle could do with another central defender to challenge Fabian Schar, but due to Financial Fair Play that’s going to be very difficult to do. However, The Chronicle has reported that Javier Manquillo could soon be on his way out of the club.

Newcastle have a several players on the transfer list this summer

I’m not sure how much that will affect FFP, but I doubt it will be enough to free up the funds to go and bring in another defender.

Newcastle don’t really have any saleable assets at the moment, and those that are on the block aren’t expected to bring in a great deal of money.

Ryan Fraser, Jeff Hendrick and Isaac Hayden are the main three players Newcastle want to get off the books due to their high wages, but it looks like Javier Manquillo might be the next to leave following Allan Saint-Maximin out the door.

Manquillo looks set to return to Spain this summer

Manquillo has had his moments in black and white with Steve Bruce calling him ‘terrific‘, but the 29-year-old isn’t of the standard Newcastle are at now and he’s fallen down the pecking order behind new boy Tino Livramento.

Getafe and Girona are now said to be interested in bringing the Spaniard back home before the 1st September deadline.

Manquillo signed for Newcastle for just £4.5million by Rafa Benitez and isn’t likely to bring in much if he’s sold, but it’s a step in the right direction for Newcastle in terms of clearing out the squad a bit.
