Mega £55m bid means all systems go for West Ham over Mohammed Kudus as Man City take action to win Jeremy Doku race

A mega £55m bid means it’s now all systems go for West Ham over Mohammed Kudus as Man City take action to win the Jeremy Doku race.

West Ham and Manchester City have been sharing a lot of column inches during this summer transfer window.

Man City players Kalvin Phillips, Cole Palmer and even – rather laughably – Kyle Walker having been linked with moves to West Ham this summer.

Declan Rice and of course Lucas Paqueta have been linked with moves to Manchester City too before the former joined Arsenal and the latter was linked to yellow card betting allegations.

The Hammers have been rivalling Pep Guardiola’s side for one of the world’s most coveted young attackers too in the shape of Jeremy Doku.

West Ham fans were cynical about the club’s interest in Doku right from the start given Man City were also in for him.

And supporters have been urging David Moyes, Tim Steidten and the board to fully focus on landing exciting Ajax star Mohammed Kudus.

Well now a mega £55m bid means it’s all systems go for West Ham over Kudus as Man City win the race to sign Doku.

As reported this morning, West Ham saw a bid for Doku rejected by Rennes overnight. But claims in France stated ‘negotiations were continuing’.

Lost cause put to bed, now earn some kudos by bringing us Kudus

That has been well and truly put to bed now, though. Because breaking news this evening claims Man City have agreed a £55.5m deal with the Ligue 1 club for Belgian winger Doku – who has stated his desire to join the champions and work with Guardiola.

Now that lost cause has been consigned to the rubbish bin for West Ham, the club can laser in on getting a deal agreed with Ajax for 23-year-old Ghana star Kudus.

He is the player West Ham fans dearly want to see signed before the window closes.

And as Hammers News reported earlier, there has been no change to the situation since our exclusive on Friday – the two clubs are £5m apart, the player wants to come but Ajax are keen to keep him unless their valuation is met.

With the Doku distraction now out of the way, let’s hope some middleground can be found between the two boardrooms to get Kudus to the London Stadium as soon as possible.
