ROMANO CLAIMS LEEDS UNITED OFFER TO SIGN ‘SPECIAL’ £6M PLAYER

Leeds United have made a move to sign Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Nadiem Amiri with a four-year deal on offer.

Daniel Farke wants to raid the German market with Leeds United now making a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Nadiem Amiri.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Leeds have now sent a ‘formal bid’ to Leverkusen for Amiri.

It’s stated that Leeds boss Farke is driving this interest and wants to bring Amiri to Elland Road before the transfer deadline.

Romano claims that Leeds have now offered Amiri a four-year deal and have left him to make up his mind.

Leeds are far from alone in the race to sign Amiri though.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported just a few days ago that Marseille were leading the race to sign Amiri.

It was stated that Amiri had a verbal agreement with Marseille and the French side were in talks with Leverkusen over a deal.

Leverkusen were thought to be demanding up to €7million (£6million) for Amiri but Marseille wanted to pay less.

Leeds may now be moving in to hijack that deal with Amiri being offered a move to Elland Road.

Who is Leeds United target Nadiem Amiri?

Amiri spent time in the youth ranks of Kaiserslautern and Waldhof Mannheim before heading to Hoffenheim in 2012.

The attacking midfielder became a first-team star with Hoffenheim, racking up 13 goals and 13 assists in 115 games for the club.

Amiri made his name under Julian Nagelsmann, who hailed the playmaker as a ‘special player’ during their time together.

Bayer Leverkusen pounced in 2019, paying around €9million (£7.7million) to lure Amiri away from Hoffenheim.

Amiri has now played 138 times for Leverkusen, bagging 12 goals and 19 assists along the way.

Amiri hasn’t been a vital player at Leverkusen for a while now and was even loaned out to Genoa back in 2022.

The 26-year-old scored against Farke’s Borussia Monchengladbach side last season, firing what proved to be the winner in a 3-2 Leverkusen victory.

Farke may well have remembered Amiri’s impact in that game and now wants him in West Yorkshire.

Now inside the final year of his contract, Amiri needs a fresh start away from Leverkusen and Leeds could be his new home.
