Norwich City offer £7.5m deal for PNE target Tom Cannon

Preston North End hopes of signing Everton striker Tom Cannon are fading amid claims Norwich City have made a £7million bid.

Sky Sports report that Norwich City have now launched a £7million bid to buy Everton striker Tom Cannon.

The Canaries are looking for a new goalscorer and have now turned to Cannon with a cash offer now on the table.

That’s a huge gut-punch for PNE fans, who have been clinging onto hope that Cannon will be returning to Deepdale.

The Everton talent spent the second half of last season on loan at PNE and dazzled with eight Championship goals to his name.

North End have been chasing Cannon all summer and seemingly had a loan deal in place once Everton sorted out their own striking situation.

However, the situation has dragged on and on and on, leaving PNE fans to gradually lose hope of a potential return.

Those hopes appear to be at an all-time low right now with Norwich seemingly moving in for his signature.

The Athletic add that Cannon is now attracting ‘substantial’ interest from Championship clubs ahead of the transfer deadline.

It’s suggested that Everton have received offers as high as £7.5million of late and a sale is a real possibility.

The Toffees have splashed out on two new strikers by signing Portuguese target men Beto and Youssef Chermiti.

Everton now need to bring some cash in and selling Cannon seems like the best way to do it.

It’s a real shame that PNE seemed to have a loan deal in place and were left waiting for Everton, then the Toffees have pulled the plug at the last minute in order to sell.

We can only hope for a turnaround here, with PNE’s hopes of bringing Cannon back seemingly hanging by a thread.
