Yuri Albero accepts ‘advantageous’ West Ham United offer as Corinthians stance emerges

Yuri Alberto has accepted an “advantageous” offer to sign for West Ham despite Corinthians blocking the deal, according to Globo.

The Brazilian newspaper reported on its website on 30 August that the Brasileiro Serie A side’s board decided not to reopen negotiations over the 22-year-old forward after an approach was made by Naldo Rodrigues on behalf of the Hammers on Tuesday night (29 August).

It said the club are concerned they don’t have a replacement for the Brazilian international, who has agreed a five-year deal on a “high salary” to make the move to East London.

Complicated

This is an extremely complicated deal for West Ham to try and get over the line with the transfer deadline rapidly approaching and the club in need of another forward option.

The latest approach was made by ex-Brazilian international Naldo, with Sky Sports reporting on its live transfer feed on 29 August (11:04am) that it is a “problematic” transfer to conclude due to the number of representatives and intermediaries involved.

Globo claims the Hammers’ latest offer was worth £15.5million, as they would purchase 60 per cent of the forward’s economic rights to further complicate matters.

But Corinthians’ latest stance should make things a little easier, with the club seemingly unwilling to even come to the table again to discuss a potential transfer.

The Irons’ technical director Tim Steidten is currently in Brazil to try and thrash out a deal for a new forward as they have also been linked with a move for Alberto’s compatriots Pedro, who plays for Flamengo, and Santos’ Marcos Leonardo.

The best step now would be to probably move onto one of those deals in the hope that matters may prove to be less complicated with time running out on the club’s chance of landing a new striker during this window.

In other West Ham news, the club are eyeing a move for a “sensational” Champions League-winning defender.
