Newcastle is set to sign Norwegian talent – A player will be on Tyneside as the Toon complete a deadline-day agreement

Newcastle United are likely to sign Norwegian star Travis Hernes, according to reports on Friday morning.

According to the Shropshire Star and talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, we’ve secured a deal to recruit the highly rated Shrewsbury midfielder.

After impressing in the EFL, the 17-year-old is said to be on Tyneside and is set to join our academy. He became League One’s youngest player last month and started their Carabao Cup defeat to Leeds earlier this week.

At this point, no sum has been disclosed, although it is regarded to be a good deal for Shrewsbury, with a 20% sell-on clause.

After a rush of U16 acquisitions and the likes of AC Milan’s Cathal Heffernan joining our U21s, it’s encouraging to see the club reinvesting in youth talent, with Dan Ashworth determined to strengthen our academy this summer.
