Everton transfer news: a late loan move is in the works – Sky Sports

According to Sky Sports News journalist Alan Irwin, Everton would only add to their squad before the transfer deadline via a late loan move if possible.

On Friday (1 September, 20:42), Irwin revealed live on the Deadline Day Countdown that the Toffees will only make a deadline day signing if a late loan move is agreed upon in the final hours of the transfer window.

The Toffees were hoping to recruit one of Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto or Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana, but both targets demanded prices in excess of £30 million, which Everton were unable or unwilling to pay thus late in the year.

Dyche has been restrained in the transfer market due to Everton’s severe financial situation, and although no formal announcement, Alex Iwobi’s move to Fulham is expected to be completed before the 11 p.m. deadline.

A disappointing conclusion to a disappointing summer

Everton are extremely fortunate that their deal for Beto was completed well before the transfer deadline; otherwise, this would have been a dreadful window as well as a disastrous start to the season for the Toffees.

Because of the financial fair play difficulties that have loomed over Goodison Park this summer, Dyche’s team have been unable to acquire the targets that they identified, leaving Everton in an extraordinarily vulnerable position at the end of the window.

If a late loan signing is not made before the 11 p.m. deadline, Everton will be extremely short on the flanks, with Demari Gray still expected to leave for the Saudi Pro League before the transfer window closes on September 7th, on top of Iwobi’s probable exit.

Hopefully, something magical will happen between now and the conclusion of deadline day, and Dyche and his team will discover an incredible loan in the last hours, since the Toffees appear to be in for a lengthy season with their existing roster.

In other Everton news, Paul Merson was taken aback by the club’s decision to sell Alex Iwobi.
