Malik Mothersille has left Chelsea after a trial at Everton, according to a deadline day transfer update.

According to Joe Thomas, Malik Mothersille has “said his goodbyes” to Chelsea, but the adolescent is “unlikely” to sign for Everton following his trial.

On deadline day (1 September), a Liverpool Echo journalist stated via Twitter that the teenager was leaving the London club but is not anticipated to join the Toffees permanently, despite having been in the under-21s squad three times this season.

The “highly-rated” 19-year-old signed trial forms on Merseyside on 14 August “in view of signing him on a permanent basis,” according to The Athletic, but it appears that hasn’t happened.

The initial report stated that he was “optimistic that an agreement between Everton and Chelsea will be formalised soon,” although he had other options.

I didn’t make it.

Because he is out of contract at Chelsea, a potential move should not be rushed before the transfer deadline on Friday at 11 p.m.

So there’s still time for a late change of heart, albeit it would cost the club a compensation payment to the London club if a deal is done today.

However, if he has other offers, there is always the possibility that he will be more interested in another location.

However, given that the signals were encouraging when he arrived on trial with the hope of joining Everton on a permanent basis, it must be a frustrating consequence for him to leave again.

Transfer business at all levels of the club appears to be under strain at the moment, following a summer in which the team missed out on multiple striker targets before finally completing a deal for Beto.

Young strikers have left this summer, with Ellis Simms leaving for Coventry City and Tom Cannon on his way to Leicester, but it doesn’t appear that a future striker will be joining them.

In other Everton news, Alan Myers provided a final deadline day report on a summer-long pursuit following a late bid.
