‘Flying this year’: Jermaine Jenas says £22m Tottenham player has improved so much compared to last season

Pundit Jermaine Jenas heaped praise on Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min following the team’s superb win over Burnley.

Jenas noted on the BBC’s Match of the Day yesterday that Son looked lot more like himself.

He talked about the difficulties Son encountered throughout his last season, which was relatively dismal.

“Anyone who watched Spurs last year will have noticed that Son wasn’t himself,” Jenas added.

“I believe there was some talk about him having an injury, but he’s come out of the blocks flying this year, and today was the Son that everyone is used to seeing.”

And there won’t be many Tottenham fans who argue with that assessment.

Fans had urged Son Heung-Min to take his chance through the center, and the move appears to have been inspired.

Richarlison has so far failed to capitalize on the opportunity offered by Harry Kane’s departure.

Spurs may have found their solution, however, with £22 million Son looking like the star Premier League fans have seen for years.

Son seems back to his best for Tottenham, according to Jenas.
Manor Solomon, though not mentioned by Jenas, was also outstanding in his introduction.

His first league appearance under Ange Postecoglou, and the Israel international did not disappoint.

Of course, every Tottenham player on the day could be lauded.

Son Heung-Min’s performance, though, will have piqued the interest of Spurs fans.

Postecologu’s team is a different proposition when the Korean is at his best.

Spurs’ reaction will be muted by the reality that they were playing a newly promoted side in Burnley.

However, there will be plenty of excitement.

And, as Jenas noted regarding Son, Tottenham do recall their creative peak under Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs’ next league game is against Sheffield United, followed by a trip to Arsenal for the North London derby.
