Adams stance

Tyler Adams is one of a host of first-team stars facing an uncertain future at Elland Road following relegation. The USA international enjoyed an impressive debut season in England, but missed the run-in through injury.

Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham are among the Premier League clubs tipped to make a move for the 24-year-old. The latter are in the need for a new midfielder after sanctioning the record sale of Declan Rice, but there is still a chance of Adams staying put to help Leeds’ push for an immediate top-flight return.

That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who told Give Me Sport: “Compared to others, Tyler Adams was definitely more open to the Leeds project and the challenge of trying to get them back into the Premier League first time.

“But there is, of course, interest and uncertainty over his future. I think that Leeds are fighting to retain him. He is recovering from injury as well, which is probably why it’s been a bit more of a delayed clarity over his future.”

The same title goes on to suggest Leeds are also in the midst of conducting background checks on Emmanuel Dennis. The former Watford star only signed for Nottingham Forest last summer, but looks set to be one of a number of first-team stars put up for sale by Steve Cooper’s side.

Dennis previously impressed at Vicarage Road, registering 10 goals and six assists in the Hornets’ failed bid to avoid relegation. However, the Nigeria international failed to reproduce this form at the City Ground, scoring just twice in all competitions.

Rodrigo’s departure has led to Leeds entering the market for at least one frontline addition this summer. Forest splashed £20 million on Dennis, but would have to be willing to accept a lot less in order to remove the forward from the wage bill.
