Sead Haksabanovic’s attitude is being questioned as Celtic loan exit issues upset national team manager.

On deadline day, the winger left Celtic to join Stoke City on loan.

Montenegro manager Miodrag Radulovic has chastised Sead Haksabanovic for declining a call-up for two crucial Euro 2024 qualifiers.

The 24-year-old is an important player for his country, but he sealed a loan move to Stoke City on deadline day after complaining about his lack of game time under Brendan Rodgers. He complained that he wasn’t valued enough inside the group, therefore Celtic loaned him away for a season.

And now that move to Stoke is causing problems for his international management, with Haksabanovic warning him he won’t be able to join up with his national squad because he was too involved in the transition from Glasgow to Stoke.

Sead contacted us and said that he needs to fulfill obligations related to moving from club to club, from Scotland to England, so we cannot count on him.” The former West Ham youngster has 33 caps for his country and would have likely started games against Lithuania and Bulgaria, but he won’t be involved at all, with his manager saying: “Sead contacted us and said that he needs to fulfill obligations related to moving from club to club, from Scotland to England, so we cannot count on him.”

“Give him some time to think about it. The decisions made by the players demonstrate how much they care about playing for our national team.

“He’s decided to prioritize his own personal situation.” So I’ll only focus on the players who are here and want to play for Montenegro.”
