Ex-teammate moved by ’emotional’ farewell had ‘tears in his eyes’ ahead of Nottingham Forest departure

On deadline day, Nottingham Forest player Ibrahim Sangaré had ‘tears in his eyes’ as he bid farewell to PSV Eindhoven.

According to his former teammate Isaac Babadi, the midfielder’s ’emotional’ farewell to the Dutch club affected him.

Sangaré joined Nottingham Forest last week as one of seven new recruits on the final day of the summer transfer window.

Nottingham Forest had been interested in signing the PSV star for some time and worked hard to ensure they were still in the running at the end of the transfer window.

Sangare’s three-year spell in Eindhoven came to an end with the transfer, which ended a €7 million deal from Toulouse in September 2020.
Over the next three years, he established himself as a vital player and fan favorite, and it appears the feeling was mutual, as it was reported over the weekend that he was tearful when saying his farewell.

Babadi has now confirmed this, thanking his former comrade for the speech he delivered to him and the rest of the group.

“He stood with tears in his eyes during the farewell speech,” he said, according to Eindhovens Dagblad, which was recounted by Voetbal Primeur.

“That was very moving and impressive.” Ibrahim was like a big brother to me as well.
