Glen Kamara, a recent addition to Leeds United, came off the bench this afternoon for Finland and significantly contributed to their victory over Kazakhstan.

There isn’t much Leeds supporters can do during the current international break but follow the games that their players are playing in for their various nations.

Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara, two recent acquisitions, participated in the game today for their respective nations of Finland and Bulgaria, respectively.

Glen Kamara: How are you doing?
Kamara’s £5 million transfer from Rangers to Elland Road appeared to be on the horizon all summer long, but it was only finalized 24 hours before the deadline.

Two days prior to the match against Sheffield Wednesday, he signed with the team and was eligible to make his debut from the bench in that goalless draw.

The Finn needs time to catch up with Leeds after struggling with illness during preseason for the Glasgow team and going the entire season without kicking a ball.

Strong effects for Finland
Today’s European Championship qualifier pitted Finland against Kazakhstan in the afternoon, providing Kamara’s team a great opportunity to pull ahead of the other teams in their group at the top of the standings, which also included Denmark, Slovenia, and Northern Ireland.

Before Kamara entered the game in the 66th minute, the opposition appeared to be struggling to score the opening goal. After only 12 minutes, Kamara assisted in the game-winning goal by locating a clever pass for fellow substitute Benjamin Kallman, who then slipped the ball to Oliver Antman:

Even though Kamara didn’t directly contribute to that goal, the way the game was played, with Kamara passing before providing the assist, will inspire Daniel Farke.

He advances and makes a smart pass into the final third, which ultimately results in a goal that is crucial for Finland’s qualifying for Euro 2024.

Since 2013/14, I have been a season ticket holder for Leeds United, and I presently sit in the FA5 hubbub. I’ve witnessed everything at Elland Road, from Pablo Hernandez to 5-1 thrashings.
