Former Leeds United manager identifies major development in Millwall triumph
Check out the latest Leeds United headlines following their impressive win over Millwall.
Neil Redfearn identifies Leeds United as the difference in Millwall’s victory.
Former Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn was overjoyed to see his old club defeat Millwall on Sunday lunchtime. The Whites won 3-0 at The Den thanks to a brace from Joel Piroe and a goal from Georginio Rutter, as Leeds kept successive clean sheets for the first time since April 2022.

And it was Daniel Farke’s side’s back-line organization that piqued Redfearn’s interest as he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express his judgement on the performance.

“Great performance from Leeds Utd at Millwall, good composure against tough opponents, never easy to win at the Den,” he wrote on Twitter. Significant contrast in organization from set plays against a team that scores frequently from corners! Both strikers scoring is a huge plus.”

Leeds are now tenth in the early Championship table, ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Hull City.
When the opportunity to nail an uneven field presents itself, Leeds United must smash lightweights.
Here are our five takeaways from Leeds United’s 3-0 Championship triumph over Millwall at The Den, with Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter scoring the decisive goals.

People will learn from history. Leeds United came to Millwall in September 2023 and beat them 3-0. The scoreboard does not tell the entire picture, but who is going to care?

The hosts had two fewer shots than the visitors, the same number of shots on target, 48% possession, 11 dribbles to United’s six, and only two fewer critical passes. Millwall delivered the commotion and intensity of a visit to The Den at the start of each half, but not the quality to put Leeds to the sword, as the scoreline would finally demonstrate.

Farke’s foundational breakthrough as Leeds United show indications of development at Millwall
Leeds United’s attacking prowess dominated the headlines following their 3-0 win over Millwall on Sunday, and rightly so. The Whites mercilessly cut Millwall open three times before displaying the clinical edge that should propel them into a promotion race as the Championship season unfolds.

On the break, the likes of Georginio Rutter, Joel Piroe, and Dan James were unplayable at times, and Millwall simply did not have the answers as Leeds ran away with the game. While the scoreline suggests complete dominance, Leeds did not have it all their own way in south London.

From the start, Gary Rowett’s Lions tried to take the game to United, pressing forward in numbers, thumping balls into the box at every opportunity, and asking real questions of a backline that hasn’t always had the answers this season. Leeds had a few scares early on as well, putting themselves under extra pressure with poor decision making and errors in possession.
