Cedric Roussel, a former Wolves and Coventry City striker, has died at the age of 45.

The former Belgium international, who played for Coventry City in the Premier League, was dubbed a “legend” by one of his former clubs.

Cedric Roussel, a former Coventry and Wolves striker who died at the age of 45, has been remembered.

The former Belgium international joined the Sky Blues from Gent in 1999 and played in the Premier League alongside Robbie Keane.

Roussel joined Wolves in 2001, where he stayed for 18 months before returning to Belgium on loan to local club Mons.

Roussel, who was capped three times by his country, also played for Genk, Rubin Kazan in Russia, and Standard Liege before returning to Mons later in his career.

Mons described Roussel as “our legend and ambassador,” and said the news of his death had left them “devastated.”

Coventry City declared in a statement that they were “deeply saddened” by Roussel’s death, adding, “Cedric played 43 games for the Sky Blues from 1999 to 2001, scoring 11 goals.”

“Our hearts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.”

“Our hearts go out to Cedric Roussel’s family and friends,” Wolves stated in a statement. Our former player died at the age of 45.”

Mons are planning an homage to Roussel, who is said to have suffered a cardiac arrest, at their next encounter.

The Belgian Football Association also expressed sympathy to Roussel’s family and friends.
