City boss confirms wingers out of action

CITY boss Chris Hughton has confirmed that both Anthony Pilkington and Robert Snodgrass will be missing through injury for the Canaries for a number of weeks.

Snodgrass did not feature at all in last Saturday’s match at Newcastle, while Pilkington was substituted just after half-time following a challenge by Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, which resulted in a hamstring strain for the Ireland winger.

Speaking at the Club’s Annual General Meeting, Hughton said: “Anthony has had a scan which shows a grade two strain which usually means five or six weeks out.

“Robert came back from international duty with Scotland and felt his knee at the beginning of training on Friday. He travelled with us to Newcastle as we hoped it would settle down, but unfortunately it didn’t, and he could be out for a few weeks but not as long as Anthony.”

Asked by shareholders for updates on other players the Canary manager added that it was hoped that Ricky van Wolfswinkel would make a return to action from his toe injury by the Swansea match in mid-December but the squad would be without Mark Bunn (ankle) for four weeks, Alex Tettey (ankle) until the end of January and Elliott Bennett (cruciate ligament) until at least the end of February.
