‘A fantastic signing,’ says Jurgen Klopp of new West Ham player.

Following West Ham’s defeat to Manchester City, David Moyes’ side is now three points behind their opponents this Sunday, Liverpool.

The Hammers have a terrible record at Anfield, and in the last 60 years, the Reds have only been beaten twice on their own turf by the east Londoners.

The last time they lost at home was in August 2015, and before that, we have to go all the way back to September 1963, according to 11 v 11, to find an occasion when West Ham came away with the points.

As a result, on paper, Jurgen Klopp’s team should cruise to victory this weekend.

However, if complacency comes into the hosts’ play, it might be deadly to their hopes of winning three points, and Klopp was full of praise for his next opponents.

“So many extremely strong opponents, and West Ham are one of them,” he told the reporters ahead of the encounter, according to the BBC.

“It’s a really exciting project, and I’m thrilled for David [Moyes].” They look terrific even without Declan Rice. [James] Ward-Prowse was a fantastic signing, and [Lucas] Paqueta, while not a new signing, is a fantastic player.”

True, Ward-Prowse has been a joy to watch, but all of West Ham’s summer purchases appear to have succeeded so far.

Mohammed Kudus and Konstantinos Mavropanos have yet to show their best, although neither has had as much playing time as the former Southampton captain and Edson Alvarez.

They’ve done well in their limited time on the field, seamlessly fitting into the squad and, over the course of the season, will undoubtedly prove to be wise purchases.
