Arsenal and Tottenham are vying for a former Liverpool ‘target,’ while PSG’s CEO responds to Lionel Messi.

Arsenal and Tottenham are apparently in a three-way duel for a former Liverpool target, while PSG’s chairman has fired out at Lionel Messi.

Liverpool’s strong start to the season continued earlier today, when the Reds won their sixth game in a row in all competitions.

Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool defeated West Ham 3-1 at Anfield to keep their unblemished Premier League record, with Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nez, and Diogo Jota all scoring.

After Arsenal and Tottenham split points in the North London derby, Liverpool is currently Manchester City’s only contender at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Mauricio Pochettino’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa, their third defeat of the season.

Arsenal and Tottenham are both interested in Ousmane Dembélé.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham are ‘keeping a close eye’ on Ousmane Dembélé ahead of the January transfer season.

The 26-year-old only joined PSG from Barcelona in the summer for $61 million (£50 million/€57 million), but he has failed to establish form in the French capital. Dembélé has appeared in PSG’s last five games but has failed to score, prompting calls for his dismissal.

According to Liverpool.com, Liverpool was linked with a move for Dembélé not long ago, with Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo stating the reds began talks in 2021, while Sport reported similar a year later.

The truth is that Liverpool has most likely abandoned any interest in him. His injury record at Barcelona would have no doubt raised worries, and his form when he has played hasn’t suggested he’d be a suitable successor to Mohamed Salah.

Dembélé would be interesting to see in the Premier League, and his joining Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur would raise a few eyebrows among Liverpool fans. Still, it’s too early in the season to think he’ll be on the move again.

PSG chairman responds to Lionel Messi

PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has responded to Lionel Messi’s assertion that he received no acknowledgment from the club following Argentina’s World Cup victory.

In a recent interview with Migue Granados on OLGA, Messi remarked of his return to PSG following the World Cup in Qatar, “I was the only player who wasn’t recognized by his club compared to the other 25 Argentine players.”

Al-Khelaifi, on the other hand, has responded, saying (via Football Espana): “As everyone saw, because we even published a video, we celebrated Messi in training, and we also celebrated him in private.”

“However, with due respect, we are a French club.” It was, of course, inappropriate to rejoice in the stadium. We must appreciate the country he vanquished, as well as his comrades on the France team and our fans.”

PSG does not portray a cheerful picture, according to Liverpool.com. Neymar has also had a lot to say about the club since departing, while Kylian Mbappé appears to have tried everything to get out.

The feud between the French club and its previous stars is certain to continue, and it is unlikely to help the club’s chances of luring major players in the future and finally winning the Champions League.
