Bristol Rovers have suffered yet another injury’setback’ due to a crucial figure.

Bristol Rovers have been without one of their players for nine months, and Joey Barton explains why.

Bristol Rovers’ Joey Barton says the club is still working to get Jordan Rosster back to full health following a lengthy injury layoff.

The 26-year-old last appeared for the Gas in the EFL Trophy against MK Dons in December. He tore his meniscus and needed surgery in January, but there were some difficulties.

He was expected to return to play during preseason, but his layoff has been much longer.

He did not travel to Portugal for their warm-weather training camp, and despite being eight games into the League One season, he has yet to appear, and a first-team appearance is still a long way off as he continues his recuperation.

“He’s had a real setback after setback with it,” Barton remarked during Wigan Athletic’s pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“It’s so disappointing because you know how much he wants to play and be fit.” With his recuperation and the effort he puts in, he’s one of the best professionals you’ll come across.”

“Sometimes luck doesn’t go your way,” Barton continued, “and he’s picked up a couple of infections post-surgery, which has given him a number of setbacks.”

“We believe the most recent surgery he’s had is the last one he’ll need, and we’re in the process of rehabilitating him and getting him back to full fitness.”

“He’s been out a long period of time and we’ve got to be mega careful with his return to play.”

Rovers grabbed Grant Ward after he left Blackpool in Rossiter’s absence, and he was an ever-present until he sustained an Achilles injury against Wycombe Wanderers last month. Ward will be sidelined for the next few weeks since he has not participated in training while covering.

Rovers also have three summer acquisitions on the bench: James Wilson, Tristan Crama, and George Friend. Crama has returned to parent club Brentford for treatment, Friend is out for a few weeks, and Wilson is the most recent addition to the injured list.
