Bristol Rovers are ‘extremely grieved’ to learn of the loss of a former academy player.

Takayo Nembhard attended Bristol Rovers’ academy from the age of seven to the age of sixteen.

Bristol Rovers has released a statement in the aftermath of the death of former young player Takayo Nembhard, who was stabbed to death at the Notting Hill Carnival yesterday (August 29).

Mr Nembhard, better known by his rap name TKorStretch, was at the carnival with his sister and pals, according to his manager Chris Patrick, who confirmed the 21-year-old from Bristol was killed in this morning’s attack.

The young man was most recognized for his musical abilities. He has over 300,000 Spotify plays on one of his songs and approximately 11,000 monthly listeners. He was also a great footballer, having been a member of Bristol Rovers’ academy from the age of seven to sixteen.

He was released only five years ago after failing to secure a scholarship with the club.

The team published a statement on his demise today. “Bristol Rovers are deeply saddened to learn of the death of former academy player Takayo Nembhard,” the club announced.

“The club would like to pass on its condolences to Takayo’s family and friends at this difficult time.”

Following Mr. Nembhard’s death, the Metropolitan Police Department initiated a murder inquiry. At before 8 p.m. on Monday, officers were alerted to allegations of a stabbing under the Westway flyover in Ladbroke Grove.

Mr Nembhard was given first assistance and transferred to the hospital, where he eventually died.

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, said he was “sickened” by the attack. He continued: “Violence has no place on our streets and we are doing everything in our power to root it out.”
