After Tottenham confirmed their interest in the dynamic winger West Ham sought to capture, a transfer is expected in 2024.

Armand Lauriente’s agent has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United were interested in the Sassuolo winger during the last transfer window.

Lauriente has begun his second season with Sassuolo after joining them from Lorient last summer, but in an alternate scenario, he could have rapidly moved to the Premier League.

In an interview with Tuttomercatoweb, his representative Roberto Meloni revealed which teams were interested in signing the 24-year-old this season, including the Premier League duo.

“Bayer Leverkusen preferred him over [Moussa] Diaby,” Meloni explained. Then there was Tottenham’s interest, and it’s no secret that [Cristiano] Giuntoli would have liked him if he’d stayed at Napoli…

“There was an attempt in the Premier League, but he wants to get to an important level, preferring a second season at Sassuolo to confirm himself.”

“He’s getting along really well with [Alessio] Dionisi.” Of certainly, he will be on the list of exits with high-level offers next year.”

As he mentioned, there’s a good probability that next summer will be the ideal moment for Lauriente to take the next step in his career.

Meloni acknowledged, “I believe so, though it will be contingent on his performance this year.” We were already interested in him, but on a personal level, we didn’t want to leave Sassuolo for the sake of change. It makes no sense for us.”

Future suitors are on the lookout for Lauriente.

Only time will tell whether Tottenham or West Ham try to sign him again next summer. As his agent has admitted, it may well be determined by how he plays in the next months.

Lauriente scored seven goals in 28 Serie A games for his new team last season. He has appeared six times since the start of the current season, and in the most recent of those outings, he scored his first goal of the season in a win over Juventus.

Lauriente has mostly played on the left side, but as a right-footer, he can also play on the opposite wing.

West Ham recruited Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus this summer, while Tottenham signed Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest, Manor Solomon from Shakhtar Donetsk, and James Maddison from Leicester City.
