Tino Livramento of Newcastle United outlines Eddie Howe’s game plan and the head coach’s confession.

Newcastle United advanced to the Carabao Cup third round after defeating Manchester City 1-0.

Tino Livramento of Newcastle United explained what Eddie Howe advised his players to do against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup triumph at St James’ Park.

Newcastle were first to practically every ball after a dull first half, setting the tone for a spectacular triumph on Tyneside. On his complete competitive debut, the summer acquisition from Southampton put together a flawless performance.

“He [Eddie Howe] wanted us to get closer to them, sacrifice, and go at them,” Livramento remarked on Sky Sports. That’s exactly what we did, and we won a ton of balls in the second half to build on.”

“It feels good to play in front of the fans for the first time, and what a game – City in the cup.” We’re just glad we made it through and are pleased with the task.”

Howe made ten changes to the lineup that had beaten Sheffield United 8-0 the night before. The full-back anticipated his opportunity.

“I am just excited by the amount of competitions we are in, the squad we have, and the quality of players,” he remarked. We made a lot of changes tonight, and it wasn’t easy.”

Meanwhile, Howe admitted that the first half was inadequate. “We needed to be better, we were a little bit stuck in possession,” he explained. They put a lot of pressure on us. We won the game because we did not concede in the opening quarter.”
