Billy McKinlay praises about a fringe player who sent a strong message to David Moyes with a spectacular performance for West Ham vs. Lincoln.

The Carabao Cup match between Lincoln City and West Ham United provided an opportunity for a number of periphery players to impress David Moyes.

There weren’t many great performances for West Ham against Lincoln, but one guy in particular would have given David Moyes pause.

The Hammers won the game 1-0 in the end, although it was a battle for the most part at the LNER Stadium.

Lukasz Fabianski was the man who kept West Ham in the game going into the half-time break.

After Alphonse Areola was elevated to the club’s number one goalkeeper, the 38-year-old has had to make do with warming the bench in the Premier League this season.

And Fabianski did his prospects of breaking back into the Premier League starting XI no harm at all last night…

During the match between Lincoln and West Ham, one Hammer stood out.

The seasoned Polish goalkeeper would have been ecstatic to be included last night, and he was obviously eager to impress Moyes.

Fabianski made a fantastic stop shortly before halftime to keep the score even:

That was a tremendous save from the 38-year-old, and he displayed remarkable agility and reflexes, especially given his advanced age.

As stated by WHUFC.com, Hammers assistant Billy McKinlay talked to media after the game yesterday night and heaped praise on Fab:

“Lukasz Fabiaski has been a stalwart for this Club for many years, and he has obviously been fantastic in the last two games that he has played.” He made several fantastic saves tonight when we needed them, so he is completely dependable.”

Fabianski’s dilemma is that Areola has been quite impressive between the pipes this season.

All he can do is keep working hard and hope for another shot in the Premier League. The good news for West Ham is that Fabianski is definitely still a reliable stand-in for Areola, as evidenced by his performance against Lincoln last night.
