Jordan Schakel has been signed to a training camp contract by the Celtics.

Boston is still adding forwards to its training camp roster.

In the middle of the social media fervor surrounding the Trail Blazers’ trade of star Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks, the Celtics made another move in preparation for the opening of training camp. Boston signed Jordan Schakel to a non-guaranteed training camp deal, according to Spotrac’s and former CelticsBlogger Keith Smith.

The Celtics are still adding forwards to their training camp roster. Schakel, a 6’6 forward from San Diego State University, went undrafted in 2021 and spent last season divided between the G-League and the Washington Wizards. The 25-year-old will compete for a roster berth with players like Lamar Stevens and Svi Mykhailiuk.

Schakel spent last season with the Warriors’ G-League club, the Santa Cruz Warriors, and the Wizards’ affiliate, the Capital City Go Go. He only played in two games for the Wizards. Schakel appeared in 27 games for the Santa Cruz Warriors and six games for the San Diego Go Go’s. The forward contributed 10.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.

In 27 games with the Santa Cruz Warriors, the forward shot 40.7% from three-point range and 45.5% from the field.

Schakel averaged 8.5 points per game over his four years at SDSU. During his senior year, he shot 46.1% from long range on 6.4 tries per game.

On October 22, 2023, Schakel appeared in a game against the Celtics, making a three-pointer and contributing an assist in a 112-94 loss in Boston.
