Celtic ‘will only get stronger’ after star returns, according to Rangers.
Celtic will “only get stronger” with the return of Cameron Carter-Vickers, according to Rangers legend Barry Ferguson.
Since suffering an injury against Aberdeen last month, the American has been out.
However, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has announced that the defender will be fit for duty during the next international break.
Ferguson believes this will make the Scottish champions difficult to beat.
“Look, they’re only going to get stronger because a player that you mentioned, [Cameron] Carter-Vickers, he’s a massive player for Celtic,” he stated on The Go Radio Football Show.
“The most important thing for the Rangers is to not lose any more ground.” Despite their dismal performance over the weekend, they managed to take three points.
“But they need to start performing a lot better.”
Meanwhile, Paolo Di Canio has spoken out about his move to Celtic, admitting that his love of the game Subbuteo was a factor in his decision.
The Italian spent one season at Parkhead, scoring 15 goals in 37 games in 1996/97 before leaving for Sheffield Wednesday owing to a wage and bonus disagreement.
And the 55-year-old has explained how the relocation came about.
“Andrea Stramaccioni phoned me in Italy and said, ‘Paolo, you have another week there, I don’t want you to fight every day because Celtic, they still want you,'” he said on the Up Front podcast.
“I say I have a one-year contract left and it’s time to move…I claim I’m going to Celtic because Tommy Burns has wanted me for two years, and I’m interested if the person who wants me there is desperate in some manner. I’d like to go.
“I used to play Subbuteo when I was younger with this incredible shirt I had never seen before, the green and white, I say I will go.”
