Jarrod Bowen may not play for West Ham United. After a knock, Sheffield United will play in the Europa League.

According to Sean Whetstone, Jarrod Bowen may miss the Europa League match between West Ham and Freiburg after suffering an injury in the 2-0 win against Sheffield United.

The West Ham news source stated on Twitter that the knock is not expected to be a long-term concern for the Hammers, but it was the reason he was substituted in the 93rd minute last weekend.

If he does miss the Europa League game, it looks it will be as a precautionary measure to keep him fresh before David Moyes’ side hosts Newcastle United in the Premier League on October 8.

He must be healthy and firing.

Bowen has had an outstanding start to the season, scoring five goals and assisting once in seven Premier League games, and will be looking to keep the Hammers pushing high up the table.

His fitness, on the other hand, will need to be properly monitored. If Moyes believes there is an opportunity to rest him at any stage, whether it is for a midweek match or a weaker opponent, he must take it. They cannot afford for any minor snub to escalate into a major one.

The winger, who scored the game-winning goal for West Ham in the Europa League final last season, has started the season strongly and has established himself as a key player at the London Stadium.

The club and Moyes must be careful not to put too much pressure on him and must control his game time as much as possible. If he sustains a more serious injury, it might have far-reaching consequences and have a direct impact on the team’s recent success.

In unrelated West Ham news, Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer both praised one of the club’s players.
