Todd Bowles, the Buccaneers’ head coach, provides the most recent injury update on Carlton Davis ahead of the Eagles game.

The newest news on Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis, who has a toe issue, indicates that he could play against the Eagles on Monday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ defensive backfield might have a significant boost ahead of a Week 3 battle against Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, A.J. Brown, and the Philadelphia Eagles. According to Jenna Laine of ESPN, Bucs coach Todd Bowles told reporters on Saturday morning that stalwart cornerback Carlton Davis will be a game-time decision for Monday’s game at Lincoln Financial Field due to a toe injury.

Davis sat out Tampa Bay’s 27-17 win against the Chicago Bears last Sunday due to a toe ailment that kept him out of every practice leading up to Week 2. Zyon McCollum, a second-year player, stood in for Davis against the Bears, finishing with three tackles and a deflected pass while limiting Bears quarterback Justin Fields to 169 yards passing.

Davis took part in limited practice on Thursday and Friday, raising hopes that the Buccaneers’ longstanding starter will be able to play in Monday’s highly anticipated matchup with the reigning NFC champs. Since entering the NFL as a second-round choice in 2018, the 26-year-old has been a defensive fixture for Tampa Bay, starting all but one of the 65 games he’s played over the last five seasons. Davis also played in the Bucs’ season-opening victory over the Minnesota Vikings, with six tackles and a pass deflected.

Tampa Bay has been one of football’s brightest early shocks in 2023, sitting at 2-0 before into Monday’s game with undefeated Philadelphia. The Buccaneers and Eagles kick off from Philadelphia at 4:15 p.m. (PT) on Monday.
