Leeds United make news with an update on Firpo’s injury and Monk’s Sampdoria links.
All the latest Leeds United news as the Whites prepare to face Queens Park Rangers tonight.
The following are the most recent Leeds United headlines for Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
Firpo’s most recent injury
Junior Firpo of Leeds United might return to action following the international break after returning to training. The left-back has been out for the entire season, but there may be some good news on the way.
Manager Daniel Farke has confirmed that the 27-year-old is making improvement, but he will not be eligible until the end of October.
“With Junior Firpo, yes, he will also just be back in training on the other side of the international break,” Farke stated ahead of tonight’s game against QPR. “So no chance for him to come back.”
Garry Monk, the former Leeds United manager, has been connected with the Sampdoria job. The Italian club is currently second-bottom in Serie B and far from their former glory. Andrea Pirlo, an Italian great, is in charge, but sources in Italy claim he is on his way out after the team has gone winless in their previous seven games.
Sampdoria were demoted to Serie B after completing previous season at the bottom of the league with only 19 points. In May, a syndicate led by former Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani purchased Sampdoria from Massimo Ferrero, effectively salvaging the financially troubled club. Former Leeds and Swansea manager Garry Monk has now been linked with the club should a vacancy develop.
